Reflection "Principles of A Story" (Post #6)

On the topic of style, Carver writes "it is the writer's particular and unmistakable signature on everything he writes. It is his worldand no other. This is one of the things that distinguishes one writer from another. Not talent. There's plenty of that around. But a writer who has some special way of looking at things and who gives artistic expression to that way of looking: that writer may be around for a time."
So it's not that I'm horrible at writing. That's okay. Getting better is possible. But worrying less about that, and more about finding a
voice is what's hard. I probably have my own unique view on things, as any other person does. But how do I go about and express it? Do I simply speak from my mind and go about it in a free flowing sense of way? Or do I simply wait and hope that it will come to me? Maybe I'll get one of those "...and suddenly everything became clear to him" moments and reach a moment of clarity. Maybe not.
Though, it all really depends on what you write and how you write it. Or rather, what you want to write about and how you want to write it. That bridge between connecting your thoughts to the page. But you have to start with a good tho
ught first, otherwise you'll just translate something bad onto the page. Like thinking about a mango and typing "mango" in a blog post abou
t style doesn't really make sense. Or does it?
Mango.

..guess not :(
